“Unreal Engine 3 has a well structured rendering pipeline, and its graphical quality is superb thanks to advanced lighting and shadowing systems,”

I personally like the idea as I love the unreal engine and the style that is inherent in games that use it. At first I was curious about the effects on the gamer that has to have a decent video card and a good amount of memory. A lot of people may opt out of these games just because of possible performance hits. Then I thought that these games still have a good year or so before deployment and possibly by then people will find the value in keeping their computers up to date and manufacturers will be selling capable cards at a premium.

I have enjoyed NCsoft’s titles in the past and I am sure that they will do what they can to make a great a game. I for one am looking forward to what they have to offer.

“I know that I have friends who are considered core gamers, who years ago were just keyboard and mouse guys—now, when a game ships on all platforms, they buy the console version…”

I call shenanigans! The only way I would buy a console version over the lower priced PC versionis if they royally F’d the PC port, and then I still wouldn’t buy the console version because any developer that royally ruins a PC port doesn’t deserve my money.

Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy gaming on consoles, same as anyone, but if the game is out for PC then I would prefer to play it on my PC.

I don’t feel like starting a heated console war so I will leave it at that.

“We could make two-hundred maps and people would play five of them, over and over,” project lead Robin Walker told us when we visited Valve recently. “So what do we get if instead of producing a load of maps, we produce one map that’s different every time?”

This sounds interesting, I think if anyone ahs the ability to change the way we think of the multi-player shooting arena it would be Valve.

What do you guys think? Is there any life in dynamic level design for online gaming or are you the type of person that loves to learn the ins and outs of a level to increase your competency, and think that dynamic levels is just a ploy for weak players to fall back on?

“Ten more days and those who don’t have a 8800 card can finally think towards upgrading to a GeForce 9 series card as the 9800 GTX is on its way to stores.”

Finally the wait is over for the new top-shelf consumer cards from Nvidia. Last week we got the release of the dual processor 9800-GX2, so it was only a matter of time before the more price conscious of the 9 series started popping up in stores.

Tell me, if you were to buy a card this generation, which card might it be? Would you deck out and get dual GX2s or would you maybe be happy with a single GTX with the option of SLI in the future?

Less than a week out and it seems that the Europeans are getting a price cut of upto 10% for this card.unfortunately NewEgg still posts the cards as $600, if we get our cards under $550 it will without a doubt make them worth their punch.

with cards this expensive, you have to ask yourself is it worth it? I am devout when it comes to Graphics = performance so you will never see me skimp where I know I get the most longevity, but that doesn’t mean that I want to spend upwards of of 2 grand on a tri-SLI graphics setup. it would be nice to have these companies realize that they should sell their high ends under $400 to compete with the sexiness of console gaming.

It has been said somewhere that the lack of ability in low end cards is what is killing PC gaming. is that true? or is it the price of the high end that is killing PC gaming?

Nvidia releases their new flagship card, a dual processor 9000 series the 9800GX2. Toted as nothing more than two 8800GTs glued together, this is an odd release as they have yet to release any single chip high end cards. with an MSRP of $600, is it worth it?

    Pros

  • 1 card which means one PC-IE slot taken up
  • the possibility of quad or dare I say six-way SLI (2 chips x 3 cards)
    Cons

  • Pricey, similar performance from Two-way SLI 8800GTs today (@ $250 a pop you end up saving)
  • seems to be a reactionary release to ATI’s 3870×2 (maybe it is too early to worry about dual GPU when the rest of the product line isn’t released yet)

Bottom line: you can’t deny its power, and while the option to SLI a dual GPU card isn’t exactly new, it is damn enticing.
