New bike, New job, New Everything!

So a lot has been happening lately. Work has picked up and I finally have the position I have wanted for months now. I still do IT for the campus but I am staff so I get the bigger paycheck and respect that comes with full time employment. Hopefully someday I will be able to get a better company PC so I will be able to better assist my users…

The advancement of my job and the eminent loss of my transportation has created not only the need but the desire to purchase another means of moving one’s self from one locale to another. My initial idea and still future plan is to buy a motorcycle. Some pros of owning a motorcycle are; it would be easy on gas, I don’t have to drive people places, and I get to look cool while riding. the only con I can come up with is death or severe injury, so I figure I should wait on the motorcycle until my insurance kicks in. So instead, I bought a standard manually operated bike; with all the gear it cost me about 1 grand and has all the features I figure are important for commuting in CA. I also figured this was a good purchase knowing that I am trying to loose another 20 pounds and the added cardio will only make the weight drop faster.

Speaking about my weight, I have been growing my beard as incentive to lose my weight… I have some pics up on my facebook so my friends can see how ridiculous I look with a beard… I may post a pic here later if you guys really want to see me. I like to think I am in some kind of training for when I get my motorcycle and will be expected to have some amount of facial hair to be considered hard enough to hang out in biker bars… :P

The important thing is that every day I am feeling better about everything. I feel more fit at this moment than I have for a long time, I have a girl that I am interested in and will see where that goes, I have a well paying job that respects my knowledge and experience, I “live” in a house and will someday actually be settled there… oh yeah and I am getting Little Big Planet soon and I am really expecting big things with that.

So yeah, this was just a quick note to say hello and let you all revel in the inner workings of my current life.

Ciao!

Good God, how does one spend $1,000 on a bicycle? I can see $400 or so for the bike… umm… does this “gear” include a UMPC?

Well, when one doesn’t shop for a bike at Walmart one spends a little more on a quality bike with a quality warranty. The extras include a lock, pump, tubes, tools, helmet, gloves, etc…

I didn’t realize how much that bike cost - More than my last car’s KBB value ($385).

I recently picked up a new set of wheels myself.

I’ve only made one vehicle inoperable before… though I have only owned one… my bike is handling quite well and I have had it for almost a week!

Hmm you spent 1000 dollars on something that could make you lose weight. I spent 1000 dollars on something that requires no movement, other than my arms. COD4 is awesome on my 1000 dollar purchase, how does it fare on yours?

I hate drawing, as I couldnt draw a stick figure to save my life.
Speaking of drawing werent you going to draw me up a tattoo?

Hey I am going to study abroad on my list of places that I could study abroad are:
    Fiji
    Kenya
    Tanzania
    Samoa
    Switzerland

I also spent $2000 on my PC a little while ago… as far as cod4 it runs without a hitch but I don’t own it so I don’t play it… I did just recently buy spore, far cry 2, and fallout 3 for the PC and all 3 games are or will be (fallout has yet to be released) amazing.

and the bike is for more than just losing weight. it also is very economical as i don’t have to pay for gas, insurance, nor does it have a very big carbon footprint.

I was going to draw you tatoos but I need to be inspired to make anything good… and at the moment I feel little or no inspiration, so maybe later.

and if you are going abroad just choose a place that has good food. you don’t want to be stuck somewhere a million miles from home and in the midst of homesickness be unable to eat comfort food. but I definitely agree it is an experience that musn’t be missed.

I will be traveling to Korea this winter for 2 weeks, if you have 1500+ to spare maybe you would like to come along?

Hey, I was wondering…why are tags and comments regarding your facial hair under your bike post and not the one with your face? Is this a database mix-up or something?

btw you look like a terrorist and I know you plan to strap bombs to that bike! thats why you wanted it to be so light!!!

Still doesnt answer the reason that this is categorized in “facial hair” and the one with ur actual picture of facial hair is not categorized at all. But hey, im the idiot for not reading right?

no, i probably shouldnt have replied the way I did, but i was asking an honest question. I am beginning to think you take potential problems about the blog too personally based on your last two comments.

I have come to the conclusion without your help that it wasnt a database problem at all, it was just because you posted from you iphone.

Anyhow, thanks for being a jerk about this.

      srsly?

I thought you were trying to get the specifics of why I didn’t put facial hair in the tags…

For the specifics, that post had nothing to do with facial hair… only as a demonstration of my ability to post pics directly from my iphone… I guess I could have tagged it pic and iphone, but the app I used to do it with didn’t have the option to set tags. The new app I will be using from now on does so I will start using tags appropriately.

If I seemed douchy before I apologize I guess I didn’t understand the intent of your questions.

      Thanks :)
Oh and the reason I take some things a little personal on here, is because I happen to be the only one using this thing… I am figuring that if anyone else starts posting I can see this as becoming more of a tool rather than a personal project…

Was simply asking a question and it was irritating that it wasnt being answered. Sometimes “understanding the intent” of a question isnt really required, sometimes its just a question our of curiosity.

Anyhow, I am considering the integration of this with the forum so I was looking over the formatting and structure as well as the way things flow.

Also you cant just expect everyone to want to start posting things on a blog, I remember a long time ago when I tried to get everyone to help me do game reviews….that didnt go over well at all. At the time I was too picky and took a lot of the joy out of actually doing the review and made it more like a job

As much as I’d like to contribute to the blog, I dont feel that I can give it enough effort that it would be of any real value. However instead of posting everything on the forum, maybe I’ll just throw short blurbs of info up on here.

yeah I wasn’t insinuating that everyone start posting right away… I was just thinking that as/if this grows into something more it will feel less like my child and more like a community thing…

anyways as this misunderstanding resolved… I will try and be more attentive to answer the questions instead of ignoring them and just trying to fix problems…

my bad :( I hope you won’t take my asshole demeanor personally
