In obvious news today; it seems that using a new technology, with new drivers, on games that aren’t exactly designed to use it, isn’t meeting the exact expectations we had expected. It seems that Crysis is one of only a handful of games the experience any boost in performance by using 4 of the latest and greatest GPUs from Nvidia. This is to be expected as Crysis is the only game that comes to mind right now that actually has untapped potential.

I am sure that given a few months time for Nvidia to iron out the drivers, by the time games start showing up that can use this technology, it will prove to set new standards in how graphics are approached.

Now if Nvidia could only fix the price of these suckers, it might be totally worth it to get a pair in anticipation of when it worked.

Nvidia 9800GX2 price cut

Less than a week out and it seems that the Europeans are getting a price cut of upto 10% for this card.unfortunately NewEgg still posts the cards as $600, if we get our cards under $550 it will without a doubt make them worth their punch.

with cards this expensive, you have to ask yourself is it worth it? I am devout when it comes to Graphics = performance so you will never see me skimp where I know I get the most longevity, but that doesn’t mean that I want to spend upwards of of 2 grand on a tri-SLI graphics setup. it would be nice to have these companies realize that they should sell their high ends under $400 to compete with the sexiness of console gaming.

It has been said somewhere that the lack of ability in low end cards is what is killing PC gaming. is that true? or is it the price of the high end that is killing PC gaming?

Nvidia 9800GX2 “Fastest On Planet”

Nvidia releases their new flagship card, a dual processor 9000 series the 9800GX2. Toted as nothing more than two 8800GTs glued together, this is an odd release as they have yet to release any single chip high end cards. with an MSRP of $600, is it worth it?

    Pros

  • 1 card which means one PC-IE slot taken up
  • the possibility of quad or dare I say six-way SLI (2 chips x 3 cards)
    Cons

  • Pricey, similar performance from Two-way SLI 8800GTs today (@ $250 a pop you end up saving)
  • seems to be a reactionary release to ATI’s 3870×2 (maybe it is too early to worry about dual GPU when the rest of the product line isn’t released yet)

Bottom line: you can’t deny its power, and while the option to SLI a dual GPU card isn’t exactly new, it is damn enticing.
