This is my first returning post from my break, I know I said that I wouldn’t post until next week but oh well I am doing nothing right now and can stand to post. I am still feeling around with the layout and presentation so i am open to comments on how it the site is looking and feeling to you. If you would like to see a function that currently doesn’t exist let me know and I can try and implement it. I am also working on a lighter theme and an Ajax theme switcher so you don’t have to be stuck looking at this dark melodramatic theme I currently have set up; if you know of a good color scheme that you want me to try let me know and I can give it a go.
I am also considering adding reviews to the site as well, for PC games and hardware that we here at GamersBeyond personally use in our systems or have had the pleasure of using for the site. There are many ways to go about reviews. We could simply state the pros and cons, or stats and specs, and then follow it with a recommendation by whoever writes the article. Or we could discuss it as a group and each of the ones discussing it may in the end either recommend it or disqualify it as they see fit. and then as a bonus we could put some sort of scoring mechanism in place for users to easily see what we thought about the game or hardware overall. I am also open to posting a cast of sorts with our reviews… but I must discuss this with the others as they would have to participate to make it successful.
The news sections currently hardware and games, I think need to be re-planned. currently I subscribe to feeds and read news every day to keep up with the times, when I see something that I think would fit well with the theme of the page I put it aside so I can refer to it later when writing the article. It just seems that this is creating a lot of unnecessary mess in the news. If you look at the last read more sections there are a lot of damn articles; so I think I will start narrowing the articles I pull from down to some specifics. So I would then focus on news and reviews of games or hardware that I find interesting. But I can then link to my Google reader account where you can check out all of the articles whether or not I included them in my article, though you may also be subject to random articles of design or console nonsense.
Is there anything else you can think of that needs to change? Let me know in the comments or email me from the side link or at blogadmin[at]gamersbeyond[dot]com.
Sorry for the interrupt of actual content, and I hope that you will still check back with us periodically.
Thanks for reading.
